Quexst Healthcare brings you the opportunity to train with different experts, to use UBE technique for Spine Surgeies. We offer short duration International Observerships of 1 week or 2 weeks. Unilateral biportal endoscopic (UBE) decompression techniques is a percutaneous full endoscopic technique. It is performed through two separated small surgical wounds on either side of the spinous process. Lot of advanced procedures are being carried out using endoscopic techniques. The skill level & Precision required for these surgeries is far higher than open surgeries and therefore the guidance from an expert with a short duration Observership is the demand of today.

Since a student is a qualified Orthopedic surgeon, our international partners have designed absolutely state of art short duration Observerships of 1 o2 weeks only. The Observership student will receive the certificate from the teaching hospital. The certificate issued on successful completion of the clinical rotation is not a registrable qualification.

The Quexst partner in Busan, South Korea will help the student in all aspects of the observership.

YOUR DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

CV: Your Curriculum Vitae reflects your educational background as well as your professional profile. It needs to be up-to-date with all important details like qualification, experience, achievements given in detail.

SOP: Your statement of Purpose is an important document, as it describes why you want to do the Observership. It shows your keenness to learn new professional skills. It portrays your existing knowledge base. It is an important document to be specially prepared for the fellowship opportunity you are seeking to join.

UG & PG CERTIFICATES: These documents are proofs of the qualifications written about in CV.

COUNCIL REGISTRATION: Your medical council registration details are important, as without these, you do not become eligible to practice and therefore also for the learning opportunity.

PASSPORT COPIES: For international learning opportunity, valid passport with validity for 6 months after completion of the stay outside the country of origin is necessary.

HOW TO REGISTER
The steps to be followed are as follows:
  • Send us copies of your Medical Council Registration, degrees, and your CV in the specified format.
  • Send us your statement of Purpose of Motivation letter stating your learning objectives.
  • Let us know preferred & suitable time slot for your rotation. We typically start on First Monday of the month
  • Your request along with documents provided by you will be sent for eligibility confirmation and availability of time slot requested by you to the mentor/ teaching hospital.
  • On receiving confirmation, the eligibility confirmation cum proforma invoice will be sent to you. The initial booking amount needs be paid as mentioned in Proforma Invoice.
  • On payment of initial booking amount to us and the payment to international faculty, you will receive the invitation letter.
  • Our concierge service can help you book the travel and Stay. You could also seek these services from your travel agency.
  • Using the travel, stay booking details and the invitation letter process / apply for the VISA.
  • On receiving the VISA approval, send us a copy of the VISA (passport pages or visa copy). With the balance payment of fees & VISA confirmation, the Observership dates are confirmed to the partner.
  • Pay the balance fee as per the schedule given in the Proforma Invoice and start making the plans for joining the fellowship.
  • You will receive an undertaking to be signed by you. Please go through the undertaking carefully and send us the signed copy of the same.
  • On receiving the signed declaration, you will receive the intimation of joining guidelines for your clinical rotation.
  • Please carry your and your address proof & original certificates for verification by the teaching hospital.
Terms & Conditions
  • In Observerships outside India (like Busan, South Korea), the intention is to give the student opportunity to observe patient treatment. In many countries like South Korea it is not legal to allow the student to touch a patient, Accordingly hands-on cannot be provided.
  • This is full time learning opportunity, student is expected to be present for minimum 10 hours for 6 days a week.
  • If Local Medical Council registration is required. The cost of medical council registration will be borne by the student.
  • The minimum rotation duration is 1 week, (or as defined in a proforma invoice which will be shared with student at appropriate time). The clinical rotation period is without a break. There are pre-defined start and end dates. Students need to comply to the pre-defined dates.
  • Patient flow with any mentor and at different time of the year cannot be predicted and cannot be committed to.
  • A student is expected to travel to learn, if required where ever the mentor is conducting a case. The student could be asked to be present to assist / observe a case at any time of the day.
  • The registration is valid for 6 months. The student must join the rotation within 6 months of registration date.
  • The Initial Instalment of fees paid by the student is non-refundable under all conditions. In case of cancellation of rotation by the mentor or teaching hospital, the same will be re-scheduled & no refund will be given.
  • The proforma invoice defines the scheduled dates of your rotation. The same cannot be modified. If it needs to be modified, depending on the re-process required, it will have cost implication and student will need to bear the additional cost. The modification request must be sent on support@quexst.com in writing. the new scheduled date must be within 6 months of date of registration.
  • In many situations, Quexst will be able to book your observership several months in advance. In such situations, it is mandatory for the student to reconfirm with Quexst, her/ his schedule of observership, at least 12 weeks before the scheduled start date of observership.
FAQs

Observerships are planned as per the learning objectives, but these may not be necessarily structured. The student is expected to get comprehensive practical knowledge. Hence the fellow may be asked to shadow the mentor (depends entirely on the mentor) and will be involved in many professional activities as advised by the mentor

The Patient flow is not predictable; hence number of surgeries are not committed to. The mentor will try to give the best possible practical exposure to the fellow.

You will get a Observerships  certificate signed by your mentor, on successful completion. The awarded certificate is not a registrable qualification.

These Observerships s are not accredited.

Copies of MBBS, Post graduate certificate, medical council registration,  and Statement of purpose with the latest updated CV.

It is good to plan and register for the Observerships  4 months advance and latest at least 2 months before the start date.

The Observerships  once scheduled should not be changed. Only under emergency conditions and approved by the mentor the schedule may be changed. However, a change will have commercial impact.

The estimation of cost needs to be done for Academic fees and Travel plus Living expenses. Academic fee is mentioned in the quote given by Quexst. The Travel expenses include international travel (VISA fees and Airfare) and Location based travel during the fellowship period. The living expenses include stay, food, laundry, site seeing and any other incidental expenses. These depend on your living style and preferences. These are very person dependent. The actual expenses also get impacted by currency conversion rates.

Some Observership fees include stay and food at the fellowship location. Please check for the same.

It is advisable to plan your Observerships  well in advance to be able to make all arrangements properly. There are many online booking options. Typically, these options do work well. Your travel agent can help you with VISA and Travel tickets. Those familiar with these procedures can also do all booking online. Quexst will help you with some facilitation, but Quexst is not a travel agency. All the payments for these bookings need to be made by the student directly, Academic fees and Facilitation fee charged by Quexst does not include charges for VISA, Stay, Travel etc.

For VISA Processing, The Quexst counsellor will give this information. Every country has different VISA requirement. Quexst Through teaching hospital) will provide invitation letter after the fellow has paid the fees.

The fee is charged is only for academics. The fee charged is teaching fee to the hospital and administrative and facilitation charges to Quexst. It doesn’t include VISA, Travel, Stay, Food and incidental expenses.  However, there are few observerships where fees include the stay arrangements and food etc. Please check the details from your counselor and what is mentioned in the performa Invoice.
